Stray Blue have always moved at their own pace. The Greek trio, formed in Chania in the early 2000s, built their following on small stages, heartfelt performances, and songs that leaned more on sincerity than style. Even after a long break from live shows, their sound remains focused on connection. This new two-track release: An acoustic version of their signature song “Wake Up & Smile” paired with the instrumental “Moody Sky”, feels less like a comeback and more like a quiet reminder that they never really left.
The title track carries the same optimism that’s followed the band since the beginning. Acoustic guitar leads the way, with a bluesy looseness that gives it warmth. Vocals are direct and clean. The song feels like something you’d hear over the opening scene of a road trip comedy: windows down, first sun of the morning, no resolution yet, just forward motion.
“Moody Sky,” featuring cellist Yoed Nir, shifts the mood completely. It opens with a soft pad of strings and guitar, slow and unhurried. The cello brings weight without dragging the piece down: it’s melancholic but not heavy. It could easily sit in a romantic film or a quiet TV drama. It’s cinematic, but soft.
Together, these two songs show both sides of the same band: light and shade, comfort and reflection, still dialed in, still sincere.
