Nadav Elkum isn’t the kind of artist to stick to just one lane. His latest project, Peekaboo, blends music and film in a way that feels natural for someone who’s spent years moving between acting, music, and directing. What started as a song turned into a short film, with Elkum at the center of it all—not just as the musician behind the soundtrack, but as the writer, director, producer, and lead actor.
The film has already picked up serious recognition on the festival circuit, winning Best Music Video at the Venice Shorts Film Festival in LA and Best Actor at the Sacred Underground Film Festival in Texas. It’s also been nominated for multiple awards in Canada and Vienna, including Best Action at the Alternative Film Festival.
Elkum, an Israeli-born artist, got his start in theater before landing a role on Netflix’s Greenhouse Academy. But music was always part of the equation, and after years of releasing original tracks, Peekaboo became the project that tied it all together. Instead of just making a music video, he built a full narrative world around his song, using film to extend the story in a way that goes beyond the typical visuals that accompany a track.
The film itself is fast-paced, with sharp cinematography and an intense performance from Elkum that won him the Best Actor award. There’s a sense of urgency to it, like everything is moving toward an inevitable moment. The fact that he handled nearly every aspect of the production himself only adds to the impact—it’s clear this is something he put everything into.
For Elkum, Peekaboo isn’t just another release. It’s a step forward into a space where music and film collide, and judging by the response so far, it’s a move that’s paying off.
