Marvel’s Latest Release: ‘Battle Royale’ and ‘Choir’ Versions of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” Featured in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine has reached impressive heights, surpassing $1 billion in box office revenue. As the film continues to make waves, Marvel has added an extra treat for fans: two new renditions of Madonna’s iconic 1989 hit, “Like a Prayer.”

The track, which plays a significant role in both the film and its trailer, is now available in two distinct versions. The “Battle Royale” version keeps the original flavor while enhancing the experience with richer instrumentation and vocals. Meanwhile, the “Choir Version” showcases an even more gospel-inspired arrangement, spotlighting the I’ll Take You There choir and adding a deep, spiritual vibe to the song.

Director Shawn Levy shared some behind-the-scenes details on how they secured the rights to “Like a Prayer.” The process included a personal visit to Madonna, where they presented her with the film sequence featuring the song. Madonna’s input was pivotal, and she offered valuable feedback that led to additional recording sessions to refine the track for the film.

Madonna’s influence extended beyond just licensing; her suggestions significantly enhanced the sequence, demonstrating her keen involvement in the creative process. The integration of “Like a Prayer” into the film has not only revitalized the classic hit but also contributed to its resurgence on the global charts.
