Thickshake – Through the Daylight

Thickshake is a one-person pop project out of Rockhampton, a multi-instrumentalist who decided to stop waiting for the “right time” and just make the songs himself. He writes, records, mixes, and masters in a downstairs music room, pulling from YouTube-era indie pop like Blanks and turning very ordinary mornings – driving to work, wishing he could stay in bed with his wife – into bright, sugar-coated guitar tunes.

“Through the Daylight” is built for that feeling. A clean, bouncy guitar line locks in with a straight-ahead beat, bass nudging everything forward while a simple lead melody threads through the gaps. The vocal sits right on top: warm, easy, instantly likeable, with a chorus that feels built to hum along with on the first listen. Little production touches – stacked backing lines, a hooky lead line that keeps looping back – keep the track moving without clutter.

For sync, “Through the Daylight” is a natural fit for feel-good spots and montage work: morning routines, couple scenes, teen and young-adult series, coming-of-age films, lifestyle and travel ads, coffee or fashion campaigns, recap reels, or any scene that needs sunny, guitar-driven indie pop with a clear, catchy vocal hook and zero gloom.
