For You Brother – “Fly Away”

For You Brother is the project of John, a musician from Aiken, South Carolina, who plays every instrument on his debut single “Fly Away.” It’s his first instrumental release, recorded at home with layers of piano, keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums, then sent to D. Oldham for mixing and mastering. The track started as a fun experiment, encouraged by his daughter’s suggestion to make something that could work in short-form video, but it comes across as more than that—a small statement of energy and independence.

“Fly Away” runs on momentum. The opening keys move quickly before a rough-edged guitar line pushes the track forward. There’s no need for vocals; the instruments trade off emotion on their own. The drums stay steady and confident, giving the guitars room to climb while synths fill the space with an analog glow that recalls 1980s rock and soundtrack music.

The track feels like motion itself, built on rhythm and drive rather than melody. It’s easy to imagine it playing behind scenes of training, movement, or personal renewal.

“Fly Away” might be John’s first instrumental single, but it shows clear direction. It’s a simple idea, played straight, and it holds together on its own strength.
