A’shon Galaxy – More Than Only Friends

A’shon Galaxy is an R&B and soul songwriter from Vallejo, California, releasing his own music and building toward a larger project. “More Than Only Friends” is written from the angle of someone stuck in a friendship that will not move forward, pushing for a deeper connection.

The track opens with short, Rhodes-style chord stabs. The vocal comes in right after, very soul and R&B in tone, smooth and romantic. The groove stays steady while the arrangement fills out around it: thick percussion, a snare with a juicy punch, and high-note keys dropping small ad-libs on top.

The bass is the main moving voice underneath, filtered and talkative, weaving between phrases instead of holding a static low end. The overall feel stays pleasant and warm, with the vocal sitting clearly in front of the band.

The key solo is a quick highlight that stays in the same feel as the rest of the song, then the track returns to its main pattern without shifting into a different section.

Galaxy describes the song as a blend of jazz, soul, and R&B, which lines up with how keys and groove carry the track. It also feels built for romantic comedy sync or relationship scenes with an old-school feel: smooth vocal up front, punchy snare and thick percussion underneath, high keys flashing in the gaps, and that filtered bass line keeping the whole thing moving.
