London Soundtrack Festival 2025: A Historic Celebration of Film, TV, and Games Music

London is set to host its first-ever festival dedicated to the captivating world of music for film, TV, and video games. The London Soundtrack Festival 2025 (LSF25), running from March 19th to 26th, promises a week of extraordinary performances and events that will bring together some of the most iconic composers and talented musicians in the industry.

In association with the British Film Institute (BFI), LSF25 will take place across some of London’s most iconic cultural venues, including BFI IMAX, The Barbican, Alexandra Palace, Royal Festival Hall, The Roundhouse, and Wigmore Hall. The festival will feature live performances by some of London’s leading orchestras, alongside exclusive screenings and intimate discussions with world-renowned composers.

Festival Highlights

The London Soundtrack Festival 2025 features a stellar lineup of events and performances that will highlight the power of music in storytelling across different media. Here are some of the major highlights of the festival:

Howard Shore Gala Concert (March 22nd, Royal Festival Hall): The headline event of the festival will be Howard Shore, the legendary composer of The Lord of the Rings and The Silence of the Lambs scores. Shore will take center stage for the Gala Concert, where the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ben Palmer, will perform a selection of his most iconic works, as well as music by other featured composers at the festival. During the concert, Shore will receive the inaugural Christopher Gunning Inspiration Award from his long-time collaborator, director David Cronenberg. Earlier in the day, Shore and Cronenberg will take part in a special In Conversation event and introduce screenings of their celebrated films Crash and Dead Ringers.
  2. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Live (March 23rd, Royal Festival Hall): For Lord of the Rings fans, a special screening of The Lord of the Rings trilogy will be held back-to-back, with live music performed by an orchestra and introduced by Howard Shore himself. This event offers an immersive experience as fans can enjoy the timeless scores from these legendary films, now brought to life with a full orchestra.
  3. Hildur Guðnadóttir Concert & Screenings (March 21st-26th): Hildur Guðnadóttir, the Oscar-winning composer behind Joker and Tár, will be celebrated throughout the festival. She will introduce screenings of Tár (March 21st), Joker and Folie à Deux (March 25th), and close the festival with a special concert of her music at Queen Elizabeth Hall on March 26th. The concert, conducted by Robert Ames and performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra, will highlight her impressive body of work for film and TV.
  4. Great Movie Songs with Anne Dudley (March 25th, The Roundhouse): Oscar-winning composer Anne Dudley will present an evening of iconic movie songs, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Featuring performances by renowned singers such as Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Omar, Monica Mancini, and more, the concert will include unforgettable songs like “Everybody’s Talkin’” from Midnight Cowboy, “Up Where We Belong” from An Officer and a Gentleman, and “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic. It promises to be a night celebrating the music that has defined some of the greatest films in cinema history.
  5. State of the Art: Games Music Day (March 25th, The Roundhouse): The festival will also spotlight the vibrant world of video game music, with The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performing pieces from major titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Death Stranding, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and more. The day will also feature a series of masterclasses, panel discussions, and signings with leading composers, including Stephen Barton (Call of Duty, Titanfall 2), Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Gladiator II), Gordy Haab (The Walking Dead), and Ludvig Forssell (Death Stranding).

The London Soundtrack Festival 2025 is sure to be a landmark event for both fans of film music and those passionate about the growing world of video game soundtracks.
