Inspired by a quiet but powerful moment in François Truffaut’s Tirez sur le Pianiste, Flo Sabeva’s Un Souffle Dans La Nuit turns a single gesture into music. The piece is based on a scene where Edouard hesitates before taking Lena’s hand—a small pause loaded with meaning.
The track moves gently, led by piano and strings, carrying the weight of hesitation and missed chances. Every note feels deliberate, like it’s trying to say something words can’t quite capture. There’s a stillness in the arrangement, almost like holding your breath, waiting for something to happen.
Recorded with the European Recording Orchestra through the Film Scoring Academy of Europe, Un Souffle Dans La Nuit could easily belong in a film itself. It’s stripped back but full of depth, letting the smallest details do the heavy lifting. Instead of overwhelming the listener, it pulls them in, creating a space where silence and melody work together.
Flo Sabeva, a London-based composer, pianist, and songwriter, has worked across different styles, from performing with synth-pop band Heaven 17 to orchestrating film scores. With The Sofia Sessions, she brings something more personal, blending classical influence with modern touches.
This track doesn’t just reference a scene—it understands it. It gives shape to that hesitation, that brief second of uncertainty, turning it into something you can hear and feel.
